The Circle Compost team is proud to announce our newest member, our new Chief Sustainability Officer, Sam Holloschutz:
Sam looks at everything we do through a lens of sustainability. From helping plan our bicycle routes to riding the actual routes, spreading Circle Compost’s message of early composting education and working with customers to meet their sustainability needs and goals, Sam contributes in many ways to our mission of feeding soil, not landfills.
Sam was born in Philly, grew up in Wyncote, and has lived in Philly since 2004 when he started at Temple. He moved to Fairmount in 2008 where nowadays he’s a block captain and has been the Fairmount Civic Association‘s Neighborhood Improvement Committee Chairperson for two years. In February, 2015 he was Grid Magazine’s Everyday Hero for the month. This year he became a Director of the Fairmount Civic Association and was SustainPHL’s first ever Neighborhood Champion award winner. Here are two photos of him receiving this landmark award at SustainPHL:
Also this year, he started Philly’s premier bocce league (now offering cornhole as well!), All American Liberty Leagues.
He’s a diehard Phillies fan, his favorite movies are Ghostbusters 1 and 2, and he was an extra in everyone’s favorite Rocky film, Creed. Here’s a pic of him with Melissa Joan Hart – she listened to Sam as he spoke about composting, but she was also happy to explain it all:
Welcome, Sam, to the Circle Compost team. If you see him riding around your neighborhood with Circle Compost totes on one of our bike trailers, wave!
